Healthy genes for quality pigs

DanBred focusses heavily on high genetic quality and health.
DanBred’s unique breeding system has its base in sizeable purebred populations of Large White, Landrace and Duroc, and a wide scope regarding performance testing.

Also, genomic selection allows breeding values to be accurately calculated. All of this ensures a positive contribution to genetic gain.
DNA testing is conducted by DanBred on all breeding animals with the result being a 30% increase in genetic gain – this benefit is enjoyed by all producers who employ DanBred genetics

Elite Sires genetic gain

In the period 2015-2018, DanBred documented genetic gain of €6.51 per finisher. The result is obvious in terms of benefits to all producers using DanBred genetics from Elite Sires.

The biggest gains documented were in feed conversion: €2.46 in the three-year period. Litter size gains were recorded at €1.50, while daily gain was € 0.93. Gains in the characteristics of the breeding objective also included meat percentage (€0.63) father-effect on litter (€0.33), longevity (€0.18), conformation (€0.09) weaner growth (€0.12) and slaughter loss (€0.06.)
